First pneumococcal vaccine for infants and young children

The first vaccine against pneumococcal infections, especially for infants and young children, has just received permission to market. It will be available in France from the spring of 2001.

Well tolerated, most reactions (local irritations, fevers) are comparable to those usually observed with other vaccines.
